42. What technology did EnGenius WPBX adopt(Telecom/Wireless PBX)?

  • Digital Spread Spectrum (DSS) with random Frequency hopping of 200 channels per second. In addition, each handset and base unit will be assigned with a single unique code out of 65,000 possible codes.

 

43. Can EnGenius WPBX support multiple lines and multiple users(Telecom/Wireless PBX)?

  • Each EnGenius WPBX base unit can support up to 4 lines and can register up to 90 handsets to a base unit. To extend the system capacity in an ¡Ladjunct application, you can install several sets of EnGenius WPBX and link to the analog port of the PBX system. However, the design of the EnGenius WPBX is a ¡Lsingle cell¡² concept. Which means EnGenius does not offer roaming and hands-off operation across different base units.

 

44. Can I use EnGenius WPBX behind a wired PBX/key telephone system(Telecom/Wireless PBX)?

  • The DuraFon will work off any analog port from a PBX/key telephone system that complies with FCC rule part 68.

 

45. What range coverage can we get with EnGenius WPBX products(Telecom/Wireless PBX)?

  • The transmission range will be subjected to the actual environmental factors such as obstacles, terrain, and so forth. These factors would limit the effective range. EnGenius WPBX:

  • EnGenius WPBX product family passes all regulatory and safety tests for the U.S. and Canada.

 

47. Why is my EnGenius WPBX phone is only giving me a two-block range(Telecom/Wireless PBX)?

  • To achieve a maximum transmission range, we recommend that you could either mount your base unit at a higher position or install an external antenna. The range can be increase up to 1 mile in many urban areas. Radio frequency travels better in an open area than through obstacles such as walls, trees, etc.

 

48. Does the EP-490 offer voice mail?

  • There is no integrated voice mail on the EP - 490. Use the EnQue 4 product for voice mail and auto - attendant with the EP - 490.

 

49. How can I use the music or message on-hold feature?

  • The EnGenius EP-490 system will support an audio-in device (i.e.: tape player, CD, radio, etc.) for music or sales messages on-hold by plugging in the 3.5mm audio-in cable (purchased separately) into the audio-in port on the back of the base unit and into an audio device.


50. Can I charge a spare battery while the handset is in the charger?

  • Yes, the rapid charger has a spare battery charging slot located behind the handset charging slot.


51. Does the charger handset slot or spare battery slot fast charge?

  • Yes, the rapid charger's spare battery slot charges a battery in 90 minutes.


52. How long does it take to charge a battery?

  • The handset's battery will charge in 8 hours and the spare battery in 90 minutes.


53. When would the handset battery need to be replaced?

  • The NiMH battery pack should last for about 300 full charges or about one year.

 

54. Will the battery develop a "memory effect?

  • The NiMH battery pack will not develop a "memory" and does not have to be fully discharged to maximize its life.

  • The battery pack is Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH).

  • The battery pack's stand-by time is up to 24 hours. Stand-by time is reduce significantly by telephone call or 2-way use.
